The Elliot Wave principle, which was discovered, in the late 1920s by Ralph Nelson Elliot, states basically that the stock market is not as chaotic as once thought. It actually fluctuates in repetitive cycles that are generated by externally influenced actions and emotions as a factor of mass psychology.
